Weather & Time
Because of the deep lake and its northern Italy location, the best time of the year to visit the Lake Como area is from late April through the summer months, when the lake provides a cooling influence, especially after the sun goes down–although Lake Como can be crowded with folks from Milan escaping the heat of the city at these times. September and October are the best times to go in fall, although the major ferries around the lake run even later in the year.
Note that the evening temperatures cool dramatically, so even if it’s warm, it’s unlikely to be hot at night. This is a big reason people come to Lake Como in Summer.
